The Jute Store is a luxury holiday home packed with period charm. Easy to fall in love with and hard to leave!

Unwind in the well-stocked library with a book and river views. Enjoy summery al fresco breakfasts on the balcony or watch the river tumble and roar with a hot chocolate in winter.

The Jute Store sleeps up to 6 people (including infants) in the lower part of the former store building – the roof space is the separate, self-contained Loft apartment.

As the building has been built against the steep bank leading down to the river you enter the Jute Store from the upper floor – very handy for unloading suitcases from the adjacent parking area.

On the upper floor there is:

  • The spacious entrance hall with coat pegs and boot trays
  • A double bedroom with king-size bed and east facing balcony with garden furniture
  • A double bedroom with king-size bed.
  • A twin room with lovely views to the river Ericht.
  • A spacious family bathroom with twin sinks, WC, bidet, sunken bath with hand-held spray.
  • Book room with well stocked library, easy chair, piano and juliet balcony with views over the river Ericht
  • Each room is heated by radiator. There is a thermostat controlling the heating on the upper floor.

The upper and lower floors are connected by two flights of open tread stairs.

The lower floor is full of charm and character with an exposed stone wall, wooden columns and amazing views over the River Ericht and Lornty Burn. Two Juliet balconies make the most of the stunning views. The west-facing balcony overlooks the Lornty Burn and the mill weir and is the perfect spot to catch the summer evening sun. The waterfall effect makes for a stunning and ever-changing water feature. The other balcony is by the dining area and looks out over the River Ericht, creating the atmosphere or outdoor dining no matter the weather.   

You can also find:

  • A spacious living room with wood burning stove (initial supply of wood provided)
  • Large TV, DVD player, selection of DVDs
  • DAB radio with Bluetooth
  • Games cupboard
 

The spacious and well-equipped kitchen with dining area is ideal for informal gatherings and includes:

  • Fridge/ freezer

  • Tumble dryer
  • Iron and ironing board
 

Other amenities:

  • Shower room with WC, basin and shower.
  • Utility area with separate sink and storage space.
  • Access to the basement area (lower ground floor) is from the living room down an open tread flight of stairs and provide storage space for bikes, garden furniture and BBQ as well as access to the back yard.

  • Bedlinen – beds are made up with crisp cotton bedlinen, 2 pillows per person, duvets and woollen throws.
  • We can provide a cot and highchair on request.

Pets:

With The Cateran Trail on our doorstep, Brooklin Mill is perfect for dog lovers. We are very happy to welcome up to two dogs to stay at the Jute Store.

Please:

  • Do not allow your dogs on the furniture or beds
  • If your dogs bark or chew please don’t leave them home alone
  • Ensure your dogs are fully house-trained.
  • Please be aware that there are open tread stairs in the Jute Store which may not suit some dogs.
  • We’re very happy to provide additional towels for drying doggy paws and tummies or after a swim in the river. Please just let us know.
 

Brooklinn Mill is made up of old buildings and has stone retaining walls in the outdoor areas, some uneven surfaces and is close to fast flowing water. Young children and dogs need to be supervised in the outdoor areas and care should be taken when moving around. The shared garden is across the track from the Jute Store and is fenced and gated. There is a gap at the front of the building between the retaining wall and the stone wall of the building. Please do not let children or dogs play in this area.
